    The Children have been exploring the artist Frank Bowling and studing what media he uses within his work. Today the children had the freedom to create an erupting volcano based on the materials Frank Bowling used, to design layers and textures in their work.  Its safe to say the children got abit messy !!

  • Chinese New Year Workshop

    The children had an amazing time taking part in this year's Chinese New Year celebrations. They had the opportunity to learn some movements with Chinese dragons and fans. The children loved seeing Dave the Dragon !!!!!

  • Measuring in Maths

    In maths, we have started a new topic called 'Length and Perimeter'. We went into the hall and practised measuring with metre sticks, rulers and measuring tapes. We had to follow some simple rules when measuring to make sure that we were accurate. One of the lines was over 5 metres and took lots of teamwork to measure it accurately!

  • Sutton Park: Fieldwork

    We went and explored Sutton Park as part of our learning in geography. We were using maps and compasses to navigate our way around the park, using different types of paths. Whilst going around, we stopped and identified different physical and human features that we could see in our surrounding environment. It was a cold day, but we had lots of fun, and even enjoyed going "off road".

  • Investigating soils

    Year 3 had an exciting lesson investigating the different kinds of soils. As a class, we observed what would happen when we mixed a variety of soils with water. The children closely looked at the colour changes of the water and where the soil moved to within the bottle. They observed whether the soil sunk or floated.

    Over the next week, we will carry on our investigation and observe what happens to the soil when kept in the water and whether any more changes happen.

  • Music - parent workshop

    The children had an exciting afternoon with their parents! Year 3 were able to teach their grown-ups how to play a piece of music from the charanga scheme using the glockenspiel. Parents and children both enjoyed singing a piece of music from Bob Marley's ' Three Little Birds ' and incorporating the instruments into the song.

  • RE - Look at our wonderful Diwali Diyas!

    In our RE lesson  today we discussed some of the ways Hindus celebrate Diwali and had the opportunity to create our very own Diya lights. We used clay to create our own Diyas, etching Diwali patterns around the outside. Do you like them?

  • Our class Charter

    In Year 3 we have been looking at our new jigsaw friend, Jigsaw Jino.  We have been looking at our school rules in PSHE lessons and have come up with a class charter. Our class charter is similar to the whole school rules, but these are specific to our classroom that we have created together. We have all agreed to follow them in Year 3.

  • Reading at Home

    Our children have been given their new reading ranges for this half-term and have now selected a book of their choice from our amazing reading corner. Children can now choose from a variety of genres of books, such as football, mysteries, adventure and so much more. 

    Children are expected to read for 20 minutes each day at home and are given the opportunity to read during school each morning.  Once children have finished reading their chosen book, they will be able to take a comprehension quiz.
