Welcome from the Head Teacher

Welcome to Hawthorn Primary school

I am delighted to introduce myself as Headteacher of Hawthorn Primary school:  a small school with a nursery, forest school, hearing Impaired resource base and therapy dog called Bailey. We love to sing and sign, and enjoy having our parents /carers in school to join in with a range of fun activities.

I have two children of my own and wholeheartedly believe children should have the best education possible. At Hawthorn School, we continually strive to foster confident and successful citizens of the future. INDIVIDUALLY WE MATTER, TOGETHER WE SHINE! Everyday, we are greeted with all the smiling faces from our Hawthorn family. We pride ourselves on the learning we create and warmth we provide for all our families and beyond. As a gold awarded Rights Respecting school, we value the voice of our pupils; our Eco Warriors and pupil ambassadors are very active.

Being the Head Teacher of Hawthorn Primary school is a great privilege and I am incredibly proud of the staff, pupils, and their families for making our school so successful.

Meet our Senior Leaders

Mrs Cook-Deputy Headteacher

My name is Mrs Cook, and I am the Deputy Headteacher at Hawthorn.  I support school as Inclusion Leader and Mental Health Lead.  As part of my role, I also work as part of The Pastoral Team as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

I am proud to be part of Hawthorn Primary School and absolutely love working with our pupils and families. Relationships within our school are paramount, and we pride ourselves on ensuring we create an inspiring, safe, and happy environment.

I feel privileged to work at Hawthorn and have the benefit in my role of working across the whole school. The commitment of our pupils, parents and staff continues to make me smile each day, and I am proud of the success of our pupils as they move through our school and to the next chapter of education.

Outside the working day I enjoy going to the park and being outdoors with my children. We also love bowling, eating out and going on holiday.

Mrs Maksymczuk-Early Years Lead

My name is Mrs Maksymczuk, I am the Early Years Leader at Hawthorn. I feel incredibly proud and privileged to be a member of our wonderful Hawthorn Family. I absolutely love coming to school every day!

I believe that children learn best when their wellbeing needs are being met and they are genuinely interested in what they are learning about. High levels of engagement lead to high levels of progress and attainment, therefore I always aim to; provide an enticing, purposeful, and stimulating learning environment and curriculum, embed positive attitudes towards school and learning and ensure all children have the opportunities and experiences they need to engage them with every aspect of their learning and reach their full potential.

I am an avid reader and wish to instil a love of reading to all of the children which I teach.

My husband (Barry) and I have two adorable cats called Molly and Dusty. When I am not in school, I love going to the gym, walking my neighbour’s chocolate Labradors, and baking cakes (I’m not particularly a good cook though…fortunately Barry loves to make dinner).
