  • Writing - How to look after Bailey

    Published 09/01/26, by Oliver Davies

We have started a new writing topic this week focusing on an explanation text. We are using this as a model text to support us in creating our own explanation text on 'How to look after Bailey'. We spent the lesson researching about how to look after dogs, organising our facts into three sections: Food, Grooming and Exercise. The children really enjoyed this lesson and were able to work with different people around the room to collaborate and share ideas and facts from their research.

I can't wait to read what the children produce!

  • Christmas Games

    Published 09/01/26, by Oliver Davies

The children had a fantastic time working in teams playing Christmas games in the last week of the Autumn term. They worked together to collect candy cane tokens, building their skills of teamwork, decision-making and cooperation. Each team had to nominate people to compete in each game. They played: Candy Cane Drop, Candy Cane Clean Up, Snowman Balance, Snowball Fight, Santa's Sock and Snowball Throw. The children loved the games and worked together amazingly. We even finished off with a team quiz to try and collect even more candy cane tokens.

Everyone had a great afternoon and supported each other. Children were even supporting people on other teams and encouraging them when they found one of the games challenging. What an afternoon of fun!!!

  • Stone Age Art - Watercolours

The children have been exploring how they created cave paintings in the Stone Age. We used and explored warm colours as these would have been what they were able to create from natural materials.

The children experimented with the watercolours to create lighter and darker shades of the warm colours. They then applied them to Stone Age animals, stick people and handprints, using more water to make lighter tones and less water for darker, bolder shades of the colours.
