    It's Hello Yellow day!

Today, we're celebrating Hello Yellow to show young people they're not alone with their mental health.

Thousands of schools, companies and communities across the UK are coming together to make World Mental Health Day that little bit brighter by wearing something yellow and donating to YoungMinds.

Right now, the world is a really tough place for children and young people to grow up in. We want young people to know that they don’t have to go through this alone. Things can get better.

    Because we stand brighter, together

In Mrs Parry's Maths group, we have been looking at place value practically. We used place value stickers to represent numbers and this allowed us to then partition the numbers. We did numbers all the way up to 10,000!

The children really enjoyed learning with the place value stickers and they produced some amazing Maths work.

    Welcome to Year 4!

In Year 4, your child will experience a wide range of exciting learning opportunities, designed to engage their curiosity and develop essential skills. We follow the National Curriculum, which provides a strong foundation for your child’s education and ensures that they are building on key knowledge and skills across a broad range of subjects.

    Core Subjects

In Year 4, we focus on:

    · English: We explore a variety of texts, enhance comprehension skills, and develop creative writing, grammar, and spelling.

    · Mathematics: Students will strengthen their understanding of number, place value, and operations, and delve into topics such as fractions, geometry, and measurement.

    · Science: Children will engage in hands-on investigations, exploring topics such as states of matter, electricity, and sound.

    Foundation Subjects

Alongside the core subjects, your child will participate in a wide range of foundation subjects, including:

    · History: This autumn, we’ll explore the fascinating world of the Ancient Egyptians, looking at their culture, society, and beliefs.

    · Geography: Our focus will be on understanding the water cycle, rivers, and the importance of water in human life.

    · Art & Design: We will experiment with different materials and techniques, inspired by our history topics and exploring Egyptian art.

    · Design Technology: Children will design and create structures, learning about construction and materials.

    · Physical Education (PE): We’ll encourage teamwork and fitness through various sports and activities, including gymnastics and invasion games.

    · Computing: Students will develop coding skills and learn how to use technology responsibly and creatively.

    · Music: Children will learn to play musical instruments, focusing on rhythm, melody, and listening skills.

    · Religious Education (RE): We'll explore different faiths and beliefs, encouraging an understanding of diversity and respect.

Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education (PSHE)

This year, children will continue to develop their understanding of emotional wellbeing, relationships, and responsible citizenship.

We look forward to working with you to support your child’s learning journey and ensuring a successful and enjoyable year ahead!
